After winning the bronze medal for Team USA with her teammates, Dearica Hamby, Rhyne Howard and Cierra Burdick, Hailey Van Lith spoke to the media and said that it was Kobe Bryant who was her biggest motivation.
"I think Kobe would be proud as heck of me for not letting us lose that last game," Van Lith said.
"It was a tough situation for us to win in, and we just didn't soak it in... that's the Kobe mentality. Go out and win the next game."
HVL also talked about how she and her teammates had to be mentally tough in order to get through the games at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
"This game was about mental toughness," Van Lith said, as per NBCDFW. "Both of us (Canada) had lost the games before it, so we knew we just had to come out tough. That's all we were talking about. It comes down to who is going to be mentally tough enough to play for the fouls."
"We just tried to take advantage of them playing physical. We tried to spread them out and not let them deny us the ball. We just tried to play it in our favor," Van Lith continued
Even though Hailey Van Lith was uhappy the team could not win gold for America, they bid adieu to Paris with a resolute performance and a bronze medal.
