WATCH: UConn's Paige Bueckers dons Huskies jersey for "last media day" in latest viral TikTok
Paige Bueckers was excited to live out the UConn Huskies women's basketball program’s media on Sunday. As Bueckers is expected to transition to the WNBA next year, it could be the last time UConn witnesses its star in the official team event.
Bueckers posted a brief video on TikTok, donning the Huskies jersey and moving on STAR BANDZ’s song “Bigger Better Badder.”
"Last mediaaaa dayyyy #uconn #fyp #media #day #mamajama," she captioned the TikTok video.
The coming season is integral for UConn's winning history. Their coach Geno Auriemma is headed for his 40th season at the helm. He began coaching the roster in 1985.
Moreover, program star Paige Bueckers is driven to win the NCAA title. Earlier this year, Bueckers was cleared to enter the WNBA draft and was slated to contest Iowa HAwkeyes’ Caitlin Clark for the top pick.
However, due to the lack of an NCAA title and her aim of exiting UConn with her name alongside the greats, Paige Bueckers decided to run it back and help Auriemma win his 12th title. However, the guard will also have an additional year of eligibility left next year due to the time lost from the pandemic stretch and injuries.
Paige Bueckers will also be a part of a 3x3 annual tourney
Once Bueckers makes it to the big league, fans will have an all-year glimpse of her unique talent.
The 22-year-old has signed a deal with the upcoming 3x3 women’s basketball league Unirivaled. It's an initiative by WNBA stars Breanna Stewart and Napheesa Collier to keep the competitiveness in women's basketball alive during the offseason.
Bueckers will join plenty of WNBA big names through a NIL deal. The league will render its first season next year, but Bueckers will be focused on her NCAA pursuits this time and join the tourney in 2026.
Bueckers has significant 3x3 experience. She was a part of the open division 2018 Spokane Hoopfest and was selected for the Team USA 3x3 World Beach Games roster in 2019.
Moreover, she teamed up with Hailey Van Lith, Samantha Brunelle and Aliyah Boston to win gold at the Youth Olympics and USA Basketball 3x3 U18 National Championship in 2018.
