WATCH: UConn’s Paige Bueckers, Kamorea Arnold and more scream as Allie Ziebell makes back-to-back 3-point shots

A year after Azzi Fudd's three-point shooting got Paige Bueckers and UConn hyped up, Allie Ziebell followed suit. In one of many showouts at UConn's First Night on Friday, Ziebell participated in the 3-point contest with Bueckers, Caroline Ducharme and Fudd.

The First Night is a student-focused event where women's and men's basketball players introduce themselves and showcase their skills on the court. While fans cheered for every Husky near the ball rack, the noise intensified in the Gampel Pavilion as Ziebell began shooting the ball.

In a video posted by UConn women's basketball's Instagram account, Paige Bueckers, Ducharme, KK Arnold and others are seen jumping in excitement as Ziebell sinks back-to-back 3-point shots.

"We know the 3-point line hates to see Allie Ziebell coming," the post read.

Allie Ziebell ended up having the best performance from beyond the arc. With some help from the men's roster’s Jayden Ross, Ziebell went 11 of 12 (eight straight 3-pointers) in the first round to help Blue Team win the co-ed contest.

The women’s roster then proceeded with the friendly scrimmage, which kept fans on the edge of their seats as players were allowed to launch shots from the new Madison Reed logo at the halfcourt to earn five points. Ziebell impressed there as well, sinking a logo shot near the end of the quarter.

Allie Ziebell can help elevate Paige Bueckers' impact for the Huskies

Ziebell is one of the three freshmen on UConn’s 2024-25 roster and probably the best one from beyond the arc. The 5-foot-10 Wisconsin native was ranked 7th in the 2024 class and will help stretch the floor in Paige Bueckers’ last college season.

However, that is not the only thing Allie Ziebell is good at. She can also handle the ball, control the momentum of the game and orchestrate the offense. Geno Auriemma wants Paige Bueckers to take more shots this season and Ziebell’s point-guard-like skills will come huge in enabling Bueckers to score off the ball.

Zieball has spent months gelling with the roster and learning the finer details of UConn’s offense this summer. With that, it will not be a surprise to see her being already acclimatized to college basketball’s pace when the Huskies face the Fort Hays State on Nov. 3.
