WATCH: VJ Edgecombe pulls off impressive block and dunk as Baylor crowd erupts

VJ Edgecombe pulled off a viral sequence as the Baylor Bears took on the Abilene Christian Wildcats on Monday. The five-star recruit blocked a 3-point attempt by Hunter Jack Madden on the wing and ran to the other end of the court for a two-handed slam.

As the play gave the Bears a 28-13 lead, Abilene Christian Wildcats called a timeout, giving Baylor fans enough time to soak up the sequence and cheer for their squad.

Edgecombe and the Bears wound up blowing out the Wildcats, 88-57. The freshman had an all-around performance, finishing with 14 points, six rebounds, and four steals.

VJ Edgecombe had a highlight dunk on Mark Few's son vs Gonzaga

VJ Edgecombe entered the college basketball landscape as one of the top recruits in the nation. He was ranked No. 2 by 247Sports and No. 5 by ESPN. The guard took some time fitting his talent into the level of Division I competition but is slowly earning a name for himself with his highlight plays.

He scored just four points in his debut against Gonzaga Bulldogs, shooting 2 of 11 from the field. However, the guard caught fans and experts' attention with a poster slam on coach Mark Few's son, Joe Few late in the game.

VJ Edgecombe was considered one of the best shooters in his class. He shot nearly 40% from the 3-point line in his junior and senior high school years. He also made 80% of his free throws, indicating solid shot mechanics.

However, the guard has been struggling at the collegiate level. He is shooting 36.8% from the field and 26.7% from the 3-point line (4.3 attempts per game).

Nevertheless, as his primary trait fails him to translate immediately on a higher level, Edgecombe is slowly earning a reputation for being a defensive asset. The guard is constantly crashing the boards, eyeing for blocks and disrupting lanes.

He is ranked third among guards on the blocks per game leaderboard and 65th overall in steals per game. He is also in the top 10 for offensive rebounds per game among guards.

VJ Edgecombe came into the Abilene Christian game averaging 11 points, 5.4 rebounds, 2.1 steals and 1.6 blocks per game through his first seven contests.
