"We look forward to getting him back" - Georgia HC provides update on Dakota Leffew's injury

Dakota Leffew is one of the most exciting additions to the Georgia Bulldogs during this offseason. While he missed the Bulldogs' exhibition game against the UCF Knights on Oct. 29 due to an ankle injury, Georgia coach Mike White gave an encouraging update on the Mount St. Mary transfer in the postgame press conference.

Although White admitted Leffew may not be completely fit at the moment, he believes the talented guard could be fit in time for the Bulldogs' season opener against the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles on Nov. 4.

"I think he’s pretty close," said White. "He’s just, especially this time of year, we’re not close to 100 percent. We’ve just gotta get healthy. We look forward to getting him back."

White also looked eager while discussing the depth Leffew gives to the Bulldogs' backcourt, and is keen to see the best of him in the upcoming season.

"He’s a little bit different than these other guards and right there in the conversation to potentially play a lot of minutes. He gives us even more depth and, as I said on the radio, there’s been certain practices where one of these guys is the best guard and there’s been certain practices where Dakota is arguably the best guard.
"That’s when you know you’ve got some good depth. But he’s a talented guy. We look forward to him getting back."

The Bulldogs also signed Leffew's teammate at the Mountaineers, De'Shayne Montgomery, and landed a major commitment from five-star prospect Asa Newell, who is ranked among the top-20 prospects in the Class of 2024 per ESPN, last October.
