“We show the world what a fraud Cooper Flagg is”: Kentucky fans slam Duke freshman ahead of Champions Classic matchup
Cooper Flagg and the Duke Blue Devils will face their first major test of the 2024-25 season when they face the Kentucky Wildcats in the Champions Classic later today.
Ahead of the showdown between two teams favored to make a deep run in the NCAA Tournament, Flagg became a target for Wildcats fans. They took to social media to berate the Blue Devils' top recruit.
Some fans looked forward to the Wildcats taking care of Flagg in their match with the Blue Devils, believing his weaknesses will be exposed at the State Farm Arena.
"Tonight, we show the world what a fraud Cooper Flagg is," said one fan.
"In all seriousness, I think this is a close game and I believe we might see a Cooper Flagg pants soilage," said another.
Another fan added, "I think kentucky comes out in man to start and get down early. Pope switches to a matchup zone and cooper flagg actually sh*ts his pants. If your in phils lecture rn get him in here.'"
Other Wildcats fans used some choice words to express their dislike towards the top prospect in the Class of 2024. They also mentioned senior guard Kerr Krissa, who has had an issue with Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Dončić in the recent past.
Another fan added, "So Duke broke Cooper Flagg."
Cooper Flagg makes his mark in Duke's opening games
Flagg came to Duke with immense hype, after becoming the top prospect in the Class of 2024 despite reclassifying from the Class of 2025.
Earning high praise from LeBron James and Kevin Garnett prior to his arrival at Durham, Flagg has seemingly done justice to all the hype in the first two games of his freshman season.
Flagg finished with 18 points, seven rebounds and five assists in their 96-62 win over the Maine Black Bears in their season opener. He also recorded a double-double of 13 points and 11 rebounds in their 100-58 win over the Army Black Knights.
Flagg will be keen to prove himself against the Wildcats in what would be his toughest test yet. The game between the Blue Devils and the Wildcats will begin at 9 PM ET tonight.
