“When it was Bronny y’all was frying him”: College hoops fans unimpressed as Mikey Williams returns from injury

Mikey Williams had the best game of his young college career on Saturday night, scoring nine points in the UCF Knights' 88-80 loss to the Arizona Wildcats at McKale Memorial Center. He played a career-high 18 minutes for the Knights, who lost for the second time in three games.

Williams shot 3-for-6 from the field and knocked down three of his four free-throw attempts against the Wildcats. It was the first time this season that Williams shot 50% from the floor in a game. He struggled with his outside shot though, missing both of his attempts from beyond the arc.

Instagram page Overtime posted highlights of Williams' performance against Arizona, including a nifty step-back jumper in the first half. College hoops fans weren't impressed, though, as he failed to crack double figures in scoring again.

Mikey Williams started slowly for UCF after opening the season with foot injury

Mikey Williams started the 2024-25 NCAA season on the sidelines after suffering a left foot injury. He missed UCF's first 10 games, with the Knights going 8-2 during that period. Williams made his college debut on Dec. 21 against the Jacksonville Dolphins, playing three minutes in the Knights' 86-66 win. He failed to score in that contest.

Williams finally scored his first points in college during UCF's game against Texas Tech on Dec. 31. He went 2-for-2 from the free-throw line in the Knights' 87-83 victory. Williams matched that production in the Knights' next two games against Kansas and Colorado, recording similar two-point outings. He shot a combined 2-for-7 from the field against the Jayhawks and the Buffaloes.
