The show included several clips of 3.5-year-old Kiyan eating, playing, and bonding with his parents.
Kiyan is now in his senior year at Long Island Lutheran High School in New York, and on Nov.15 officially committed to play for the Syracuse Orange next year.
Carmelo and La La met in 2003, when the Denver Nuggets had just drafted Anthony and La La had gained popularity through her stint as VJ on MTV’s Total Request Live.
The two eventually got engaged in 2004 on Christmas Day. Three years later, they welcomed Kiyan Anthony into the world on March 7, 2007. Another three years later, they got married on July 10, 2010, at Cipriani’s in New York.
The couple were married for more than a decade, but in 2021 they decided to get a divorce.
Both La La and Carmelo Anthony continue to co-parent Kiyan, with La La joining Melo on the season 2 premiere of “7PM in Brooklyn,” with Kiyan Anthony to talk about him announcing his decision to commit to his dad’s alma mater, Syracuse University.
La La on son Kiyan Anthony committing to Syracuse
As mentioned, Anthony announced his decision to commit to the Orange on Nov. 15. This comes after receiving offers from Auburn, Florida State, Ohio State, Rutgers, and USC.
During Kiyan's announcement on Melo's podcast, La La shared her thoughts and feelings on her son's decision to follow in his father's footsteps.
"I'm overwhelmed, I'm happy 'coz he's happy and I think it's an incredible decision. They're an incredible school and they really worked hard in recruiting and just making him feel like a priority.
"They were great and I mean it's, you know, big shoes to fill. But at the same time, this is his moment and his lane and it's time for him to create his own reality so I'm excited." (Timestamp: 28:21)
Syracuse fans will be thrilled to welcome the next generation Anthony and will be hoping for more of the same from Kiyan when Carmelo played for Syracuse.
