Carr won't be able to play for Baylor this season, but he can practice with the team. He said that he intends to become eligible to play for the Bears next season.

Cameron Carr leaves Tennessee mid-season, joins Baylor

Cameron Carr left Tennessee in December, midway through the season, following a thumb injury in November that sidelined him for most of the year. Carr only played in four games this season, averaging 2.3 points per game, after appearing in 14 games as a freshman.

Tennessee head coach Rick Barnes addressed Carr’s departure, describing it as a personal decision.

"To be honest, I don’t think they fully understood the rule," Barnes commented after the announcement. "That’s just my assumption. We were counting on him being part of the team. His teammates were surprised and disappointed. Beyond that, there’s not much else to say. He made his choice—it’s puzzling, to be honest."

Cameron Carr shared in his original announcement post on Instagram that he "has nothing but love for Coach Barnes, the Tennessee staff, and Vol nation."
