“Wonder how (Dan) Hurley would react”: College hoops fans react as Dayton’s Jevon Bennett falls on NCAA coaching legend Roy Williams
A user posted a video of Dayton Flyers guard Jevon Bennett falling on retired coaching legend Roy Williams during No. 12 North Carolina’s 92-90 victory over the Dayton Flyers on X on Tuesday.
Roy Williams spent 18 seasons as North Carolina's coach and 15 as coach of the Kansas Jayhawks. The Hall of Famer spent 10 years as Dean Smith's assistant at UNC before taking over at Kansas in 1988, winning nine conference titles.
The post stirred up reactions from fans as they took jabs at UConn’s Dan Hurley, after he was hit with a technical foul for allegedly cursing at an official after UConn’s loss on Monday.
“Wonder how Hurley would react,” one fan commented.
Another fan responded: “He’d probably cry and whine and scream for the player to be ejected.”
“i love how his wife was so unbothered lol,” another fan said.
In a show of appreciation for Roy Williams after he was seen encouraging Jevon Bennett, fans said:
“Roy still got it! That’s leadership on the court!” a fan responded.
"Good form, legal guarding position,” another fan said.
“Roy could teach most nba players a thing or 2 💪🏽💪🏽,” a fan commented.
Seth Trimble reacts to North Carolina’s comeback win
North Carolina guard Seth Trimble was instrumental in the Tar Heels' comeback victory over Dayton, and he had a lot to say after the game. Trimble put up a double-double with 27 points and 10 rebounds to claw back a 21-point deficit at halftime. While RJ Davis put up 30 points, seven rebounds and five assists, as the duo combined to rescue the situation.
Trimble told the media how the team was inspired to believe in the comeback.
“Heart, will, determination. We’ve been here before this year, unfortunately already,” Trimble said. “So, we kind of came into the half with some mean words from each other, but some truthful words to push each other. We made a promise to ourselves that, ‘Hey, we’re not going out today.”
Seth Trimble has averaged 17.4 ppg, 5.0 rpg, 1.8 apg and 54.0% shooting, becoming an integral part of North Carolina's lineup.
