“You fly”: UConn’s Paige Bueckers gushes over LSU’s Flau'jae Johnson’s photoshoot
Flau'jae Johnson’s musical pursuits continue ahead of the 2024-25 college basketball season. The LSU Tigers’ guard dropped a flawless verse on the beats of Tommy Richman's "Million Dollar Baby" earlier this month. Her Instagram snippet of the electric verse garnered more than 200,000 views in no time.
Johnson, who dropped 30 points in an exhibition win over Xavier University on Thursday, posted a photo on her Instagram:
"Million Dollar Baby 🤎 (out now)," Johnson captioned the post.
As fans stormed the comment section to appreciate Flau'jae Johnson's vivid look, Paige Bueckers also chipped in:
"You fly," Bueckers wrote.
Johnson and Bueckers are coming off a coaching faceoff in August, with Overtime Select’s Takeover Weekend. While it is a great way for young athletes to test their coaching acumen, the two guards brought the intensity to the matchup.
Johnson’s squad of high school players opened the game with a bang. However, the UConn guard’s crew dominated the remaining stretch, springing victorious with a 105-102 scoreline in the competitive matchup.
The two participated in a pickup game after the event, collaborating with some of the best high school female hoopers in the nation.
Flau'jae Johnson tops Paige Bueckers in NIL rankings
Paige Buecker has been the biggest name in the women's college basketball space for years, which constantly earned her opportunities to be the NIL leader in her field.
However, Flau’jae Johnson’s rise in the world of music has seemingly thrust her stock past Bueckers this summer. With that, Flau’jae Johnson’s $1.5 million valuation makes her the top NIL athlete in women basketball. Paige Bueckers closely follows with a $1.4 million valuation.
Over this summer, Flau’jae Johnson has successfully established herself as a multi-faceted personality. She dropped her first album on June 28, which included a song with rapper Lil Wayne. The two also released a video album for their song “Came Out a Beast,” which has over 2 million views on YouTube.
Apart from being a performer on and off the court, Johnson is also dedicating her time to building a following around her podcast "Best of Both Worlds," which already has more than 20k subscribers.
