"You're just getting started" — Iowa coach reacts to Caitlin Clark’s new basketball line
Caitlin Clark is arguably one of the most popular rookies in the WNBA. Besides scorching the court for the Indiana Fever, she is also winning off the court. Clark has inked deals with several top brands, one of which is sports equipment company Wilson.
After signing a deal with Wilson in May, the multimillion-dollar company unveiled two special-edition basketballs with Clark's signature on them. One of them had the colors of her beloved Iowa Hawkeyes, while the other had a stunning multicolor combination.
Wilson's reveal filled Hawkeyes assistant coach Raina Harmon with pride, and she took to social media to congratulate Clark with a motivational message on her Instagram story.
"Continue to dream kid, you're just getting started!" Harmon said.
Clark has also inked deals with Gatorade, State Farm, Panini and Xfinity. Her Nike deal, which will see the launch of a signature shoe, is reportedly worth $28 million, making it the most expensive deal for a women's basketball player.
Caitlin Clark is a clear favorite to win Rookie of the Year
Clark was arguably the standout player in NCAA women's basketball during the 2023-24 season. She won the National Player of the Year Award for the second season in a row, among several individual accolades for her tremendous performances.
The Indiana Fever rewarded her efforts by making her the top overall pick in the 2024 WNBA draft, and she has lived up to the billing. Clark has averaged 19.2 points, 8.5 assists, 5.8 rebounds and 1.3 steals in 36 starts so far this season. She played a major role in helping the Fever make the playoffs for the first time since 2016, snapping the longest active streak in the WNBA.
The Fever still have four games left in the regular season, two of which are against the Las Vegas Aces, who are second in the Western Conference with a 22-13 record. Clark, a favorite to win the Rookie of the Year, will look to lead the Fever to a solid finish in the regular season. She will aim to continue her red-hot form into the playoffs and try to bring home Indiana's first WNBA championship since 2012.
