2026 projected No. 1 pick AJ Dybantsa made an exciting proposition regarding his NBA future. During his appearance on "First Take" to announce his commitment to BYU, the star prospect suggested that he'd play well alongside Spurs superstar Victor Wembanyama.

Dybantsa was asked by Stephen A. Smith if he thinks there's a system in the NBA that's tailor-made for his game, to which the nation's top high school basketball recruit replied by speaking about Wemby.

"You watch the film [of me playing], how do you think me and Wemby would play?"

Check out the moment on First Take below.

Dybantsa sees the Spurs system as a perfect fit for his versatile skill set, which he likens to a blend of Tracy McGrady and current Thunder star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

He also mentioned the Orlando Magic as an intriguing option, highlighting their Paolo Banchero and their young core as another potential landing spot.

"Paolo's my guy," he said.

Reports suggest that the influence of Utah Jazz executive Danny Ainge and team owner Ryan Smith, both BYU alumni, played a crucial role in boosting the university's NIL program. This increased financial support allowed head coach Kevin Young to pursue top-tier talent aggressively.

While the record-breaking NIL package, estimated at $5 million to $7 million, was a significant factor, Dybantsa emphasised that BYU's NBA-level infrastructure was equally important.

“I went on my visit,” he said, “Head coach all the way down to the analytics guy, analytics guy all the way to the dietician is all NBA staff, even the strength coach.”

Dybantsa's presence at BYU will undoubtedly elevate the program's national profile. Whether he joins Wemby in San Antonio, contributes to the Magic's young core, or lands elsewhere, one thing is certain: AJ Dybantsa could be a name to watch in the years to come.
