“Our audience doesn’t care about you”: When Dan Hurley’s wife Andrea hilariously stopped him from sharing an anecdote on her podcast
UConn coach Dan Hurley and his wife Andrea have a hilarious dynamic that was on full display during an episode of "Ball is Wife" podcast in November 2021.
Hosts Andrea and Nicole Kellogg, wife of Creighton men's basketball assistant coach Derek Kellogg, brought their husbands, Dan and Derek, onto the show to discuss their relationships.
As the show continued, coach Hurley and Kellogg began to recount their college basketball days. When Hurley asked Andrea if he could share one more anecdote, she shut down his attempt because, at that point, the two were going on and on, and it did not seem like they were going to stop.
"Our audience doesn't care about you," Andrea said (4:44). " We already lost a portion of our listeners."
"Right," Nicole agreed. "So, this is turning into the Dan and Derek podcast."
Andrea then asked Hurley what things she should avoid talking about in the podcast when it comes to his basketball coaching and career.
"I would appreciate it if you don't mention the coaches I don't like in particular, when we're playing against them," Hurley said (6:42).
"Maybe when I lose a recruit and I'm pretty sure the school cheated in some way, and I come home and say 'They're cheating,' you probably shouldn't say that [on the show]."
Dan Hurley shared how meeting Andrea changed his life’s course
Dan Hurley and Andrea Sirakides first met when they were both studying at Seton Hall. The two-time national champion coach described the event as a pivotal moment in his life.
"I met her at Seton Hall. It’s like, by far, the best thing that happened to me at Seton Hall. But that was the thing that saved my life when I met her and changed my life and made me want to be better," Dan said (via WTHN News).
Andrea also shared in the interview that she helps Dan with everything to make his life easier.
"When you figure out how you could help your other half get better at what he does, and you see it come back to you," she said. "It’s a friendship. It’s working together as a team."
"You know, making his lunch every day. It’s it really is. It’s like making dinner every night and making sure that you still connect as a family."
Dan Hurley and the Huskies are on a voyage to make history by winning a third consecutive national championship. They are off to a great start after winning the first three games this season.
