Paige Bueckers continued her fine play in the 2024-25 college basketball season, leading UConn to a 71-52 win over Oregon State on Monday in the Baha Mar Women's Championship semifinals.
Bueckers topscored for the Huskies (5-0) with 23 points on 9-of-13 shooting, including 3-of-5 from the 3-point area. The six-foot senior also tallied three rebounds, six assists and one steal in 29 minutes of action for No. 2 UConn, who never trailed in the game.
The veteran guard went to work early, tallying five quick points and two assists that gave the Geno Auriemma-coached squad a 12-2 lead. Bueckers sank two more 3-pointers, giving the Huskies a 20-7 edge. She concluded her excellent first-quarter performance with an assist to Jana El Alfy, giving UConn a 22-7 advantage.
Bueckers added two points to her account at 6:40 of the second period to increase the Huskies' lead to 22, 29-7. She then set up Allie Ziebell for a triple that put UConn up 40-13 with 3:16 remaining before halftime.
The guard tallied 10 more points and two assists in the next two quarters to keep the Huskies on top until the final buzzer.

Center Jana El Alfy contributed 14 points, on 6-of-11 shooting, two rebounds and one block off the bench for the Huskies, who dominated the assists (25-12) and steals (11-6) departments.
Freshman Allie Ziebell scored all her seven points in the second quarter as the Geno Auriemma-coached squad led by as many as 29 points to storm into the finals of the Baha Mar Championship against No. 18 Ole Miss, who trampled Boston College 92-55.
It was Oregon State's fifth loss in six games, continuing its winless skid against Division I teams this season. AJ Marotte led the Beavers with 17 points, while Kelsey Rees added 10.
