REPORT: John Calipari close to sealing commitment from major five-star guard Meleek Thomas
Arkansas Razorbacks coach John Calipari may have just snagged one of the best recruits in the country in five-star Pittsburgh native Meleek Thomas. Per Rivals' Rob Cassidy, Thomas' visit last week has gone a long way toward securing a commitment.
"Last week's visit seems to have solidified the Razorbacks’ position as one of, if not the, most likely landing spot for the Pittsburgh native."
Thomas' visit saw him witness a thrilling 19-14 win by the Razorbacks football team over No. 4 Tennessee on Saturday.
For his final season before college, Meleek Thomas decided to head to Atlanta to play for the City Reapers at Overtime Elite. The 6-foot-4 guard is the No. 1-ranked shooting guard in the 2025 class and No. 11 prospect overall, per 247Sports.
Before he transferred to Atlanta, Thomas was wreaking havoc on schools in Pittsburgh, averaging 23 points and 10 rebounds in two seasons at Lincoln Park Performing Arts Charter School, where he led his team to back-to-back state titles.

Rob Cassidy noted that Thomas had canceled his scheduled visit to Alabama in September but still has a visit to Kansas State scheduled for Oct. 26. If Thomas also cancels his trip to K-State, that would be another strong sign that the youngster is leaning toward committing to John Calipari's Hogs.
Landing Thomas would be a huge boost to John Calipari's 2025 recruiting class. The Hogs are currently No. 36 in 247Sports' 2025 rankings, having landed one five-star recruit in Darius Acuff Jr. in July.
In the meantime, Thomas is busy playing in the preseason with his Overtime Elite team. In his preseason debut on Wednesday, he scored 26 points to go along with seven rebounds, four steals, and two assists.
He followed that up with 23 points, nine rebounds, four assists, and three steals against Air Nado on Thursday.
