Rutgers’ star guard Dylan Harper’s best performances this season ft. 37-point outburst against Alabama
Rutgers' freshman Dylan Harper has turned heads in his first year of college hoops. The guard is currently averaging an astounding 23.2 ppg, 5.1 rpg, and 4.6 apg on 51.3% shooting.
His scoring has been elite, to say the least. That's why we've decided to put together some of his top performances over the first 10 games of the season. Check them out below.
36-6-6 OT Dylan Harper's performance against Notre Dame (Nov. 27)
In an instant classic, Dylan Harper led the Scarlet Knights to an 85-84 OT victory over the Fighting Irish. He dropped a career-high 36 points, including the free throw that gave Rutgers the lead with 3.8 seconds remaining.
Harper shot 12-of-22 from the field, made 10 of his 14 free throw attempts, grabbed six rebounds, and had six assists on the night. He literally did it all.
37-point outburst against Alabama (Nov. 28)
Less than 24 hours later, Harper was back like he never left, topping his career-high score against Notre Dame the previous night with 37 points against the Crimson Tide.
He became the first Rutgers freshman since Quincy Douby in 2006 to post back-to-back 30-point games and the first freshman with 35 points or more in back-to-backs in the last 20 Division I seasons.
He also nabbed two steals on the night to go along with two assists and two rebounds.
Stuffing the stat sheet against Penn State (Dec. 11)
Harper started this game on fire, scoring 11 points in eight minutes including going 3-for-3 from deep. He finished the half with 15 points, six rebounds, and three assists.
He continued to dominate across the game, eventually recording his first career double-double with 24 points, 12 rebounds, and five assists, leading Rutgers to an 80-76 win. He also added two blocks and a steal to his line on the night.
Near-triple double outing versus Merrimack (Nov. 21)
In their win over Merrimack, Dylan Harper came close to recording an impressive triple-double. Although he didn't shoot the lights out as he's done in other games, this performance showcased his ability to contribute across the board. He finished with 14 points, eight rebounds, and six assists in a well-rounded effort.
Dylan Harper's stock has risen significantly through his first 10 games at the college level. If he continues the form he's in and puts in more performances like the ones above, there might be a new No. 1 prospect for the 2025 NBA Draft.
