Sarah Strong stats tonight - How did UConn No.1 women's CBB prospect fare in debut (Nov 7)

Sarah Strong was impressive on her women's college basketball debut, leading UConn to a big win on Thursday night.

Strong, the No. 1 high school prospect in the class of 2024, lived up to her name and hype, tallying 17 points, four rebounds, three assists and six steals in 25 minutes. The 6-foot-2 freshman made 8-12 shots from the field, including 1-of-4 from the 3-point area.

Strong opened scoring for the Huskies with a layup off an Ice Brady pass at the 7:51 mark in the first quarter. The forward also showed her passing skills, dishing off to Paige Bueckers, who drilled a jumper for a 9-0 lead.

Strong drove in for a layup for her second field goal to lift UConn to a 22-2 lead. She scored eight points on four layups in the last two minutes and 31 seconds of the second quarter to come up with 12 points after 20 minutes.

She buried a triple at the start of the third period to give the Huskies a 63-13 advantage and scored on a layup from a Paige Bueckers' assist for a 67-13 lead. Below are Sarah Strong's final stats from the game.

Huskies vs Terriers game recap: UConn dominates Boston University

No. 2 seed UConn opened the 2024-25 season with a bang, demolishing Boston University in its season opener 86-32 on Thursday.

Freshmen Jana El Alfy had a double-double of 17 points and 11 rebounds. Fifth-year senior Paige Bueckers also had an efficient night, tallying 13 points, four rebounds, seven assists and five steals.

Ashlynn Shade contributed 10 points, three rebounds, three assists and six steals for the Huskies, who dominated the Terriers in front of 13,355 fans at the XL Arena in Hartford, Connecticut. After allowing Boston University to score its first two points, UConn responded with 15 unanswered points for a 26-2 advantage.

The Huskies continued to step on the gas pedal in the second period, building a 47-point lead at the half. UConn kept its defense intact in the third period, limiting the Terriers to nine points en route a 72-22 rampage.

Geno Auriemma rested his starters in the fourth quarter, but the defense remained sharp, surrendering only 10 points to secure UConn's first win of the season.

UConn dominated the statistical departments, winning the rebounds (35-30), assists (28-5), steals (25-4) and blocks (4-1) categories. The Huskies compiled 19 fastbreak points and 52 points in the paint to complete the domination.

Alex Giannaros led the Terriers with 13 points, including a pair of 3-pointers for BU, who scored nine straight points in the third quarter. UConn won its season opener for the 29th year in a row. Strong will again play for the Huskies in their game against South Florida on Sunday at 4:30 p.m. ET.
