Top 3 LSU athletes at the 2024 Paris Olympics ft. Brooks Curry, Aleah Finnegan and more
There is much hype about the LSU Tigers contingent at the ongoing 2024 Paris Olympics. The Tigers have a rich history of producing a host of Olympians, not only for Team USA but for several other countries as well. This year, the LSU athletes will be looking to add to the school's 45 Olympic medals since 1932.
In 2024, the Tigers will be represented by athletes in sports like basketball, gymnastics, beach volleyball, tennis and track and field, among others. Apart from athletes, they are being represented in coaching as well with basketball associate head coach David Patrick on the sidelines for Australia men's team.
Here are the top LSU athletes at the 2024 Olympics.
Top LSU athletes at 2024 Olympics
#1 Brooks Curry
The LSU swimming and diving team is sending a record number of athletes to the Summer Games in Paris. The Tigers have doubled their previous best in the sport that they achieved back in the 1996 Atlanta edition. Among the group is Brooks Curry, who is representing Team USA.
Curry is a part of the LSU swimming team, and it will be his second Olympic participation. He won gold in the 4x100-meter relay event in Tokyo 2020. This year, he won a silver in the 4x200-meter freestyle relay.
#2 Aleah Finnegan
Aleah Finnegan won the 2024 national championship title in gymnastics with the LSU Tigers. She has become the first female gymnast to represent the Philippines in the Olympics. Although she might not be a part of the USA, she will surely have the support of the Tigers loyalists.
Finnegan was earlier a part of the U.S. gymnastics setup but changed it to her native Philippines in 2022.
#3 Tima Godbless
Tima Godbless is a sophomore at LSU but is already competing in her second Olympics. She is part of the list of several LSU athletes at the 2024 Olympics and will be taking the track for Nigeria.
Godbless automatically qualified for the Olympic games in the French capital after she ran 200 meters in 22.56 seconds. She achieved the timing at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field championship.
