Top three players on Bill Self's Kansas Jayhawks to watch out for this season
#1 Hunter Dickinson, Center
Kansas' seven-one big man Hunter Dickinson will return to Bill Self's squad for his fifth season of eligibility. The two-time consensus All-American was one of the top players in the country last season, averaging a double-double with 17.9 points and 10.9 rebounds.
Dickinson began his career at Michigan, where he spent three seasons and earned All-Big Ten honors each year. He was also named Big Ten Freshman of the Year during his first season with the Wolverines. He transferred to Kansas before the start of last season and helped lead the team to a No. 4 seed in the NCAA Tournament.
Dickinson played well in the tournament, finishing with 19 points and 20 rebounds in the first matchup against Samford. After a narrow 93-89 victory in round one, the injury to star guard Kevin McCullar Jr. finally caught up to the Jayhawks, and they would lose to Gonzaga in an 89-68 rout.
#2 Zeke Mayo, Guard
Lawrence, KS native Zeke Mayo will join Bill Self and the Kansas Jayhawks for the upcoming season as the 24th overall ranked transfer by 247Sports. Mayo spent the last three seasons at South Dakota State, where he led the Summit in 3-point field goal percentage.
The 2023–24 Summit Player of the Year averaged a career-high 18.8 points, shooting 39.1% from beyond the arc last season. He will be a major boost on the perimeter for a Jayhawks team that shot just 33.2% as a team from deep last season.
Mayo didn't receive much attention from programs as a recruit, but his proven elite scoring ability has landed him on one of the most loaded rosters in the country for his senior season.

#3 AJ Storr, Guard
AJ Storr was another huge transfer portal acquisition for Bill Self and the Jayhawks during the offseason.
Storr will join his third team in three years after spending one season at St. John's and Wisconsin. He earned Big East All-Freshman honors at St. John's and was second-team All-Big Ten last season with the Badgers.
His scoring numbers saw a massive leap last season, averaging 16.8 points and 3.9 rebounds. His 0.9 assists per game average ranked low among other guards, but Storr's efficient scoring is part of what makes him such a weapon on offense.
Storr was the fourth overall ranked transfer this year by 247Sports and was a three-star recruit out of high school. The Jayhawks were among the 17 programs to make an offer to Storr out of high school, but he eventually chose to begin his career at St. John's.
