WATCH: Carmelo Anthony recaps exciting moments from 2024 Olympics with son Kiyan Anthony in Paris
NBA icon Carmelo Anthony and his son Kiyan Anthony were in Paris last week to take in the sights and sounds of the 2024 Summer Olympics. The father-son duo were spotted courtside during the quarterfinal between France and Canada. They then attended the semifinal and final matchups, cheering for the United States, who secured a gold medal.
Anthony took to Instagram on Tuesday to share behind-the-scenes clips from their Olympic experience. The video began with him and Kiyan arriving in the City of Love and walking through the streets of Paris. It then showed Anthony attending several interviews, visiting the FIBA house, meeting with representatives from the federation and snapping pictures with them.
"A life that is full. Merci, Paris," Anthony wrote as the caption.
The 10-time NBA All Star also met with several celebrities including comedian and TV host Jimmy Fallon. Carmelo Anthony and Kiyan enjoyed courtside seats beside NBA legends Paul Gasol and Dirk Nowitzki.
He also interacted with every player from Team USA and shared a special moment with LeBron James as they hugged and celebrated on the court. Anthony also posted flashback pictures of him and LeBron from their time as teammates at the 2012 London Olympics.
"Don’t mess with family. #USABFamily," Anthony wrote.
Carmelo Anthony's take on NBA title vs Olympic gold
Carmelo Anthony, despite being an All-Star 10 times, never won an NBA championship. However, he played for Team USA in the Olympics four times, winning a bronze medal in 2004 and three gold medals afterward.
During the Paris trip, Anthony sat down with Donatas Urbonas of BasketNews to give his verdict on which accomplishments he views as more meaningful.
"When we talk about global sport, for me, a medal means something totally different than an NBA championship," Anthony said. "They both have their own separate meanings but winning a gold medal, it's the passion, it's the pride that you have not just for a city or a state (but) for a whole nation, a whole country you're winning for.
"It's a different level of, I would say, pride that you have to have when you're wearing USA across your chest or you're wearing Lithuania across your chest. It's a totally different feeling than Knicks, New York across your chest."
Carmelo Anthony retired from professional basketball in May 2023 and is set to be eligible for the Hall of Fame in 2026.
