"Wrong place, wrong time": Carmelo Anthony once had a hilarious reaction to accidental appearance in son Kiyan Anthony's TikTok video
Basketball fans love seeing sweet moments between NBA star Carmelo Anthony and his son Kiyan on social media. They got exactly that in November last year.
The internet went abuzz after Anthony unexpectedly made a cameo in one of Kiyan's TikTok videos. The Long Island Lutheran guard and his friend Jadyn Defense were dancing to a beat when Anthony appeared in the scene from the background.
Fans were caught off-guard when the ten-time NBA All-Star started making hilarious moves with the kids and put on his hoodie hat.
"Wrong place, wrong time," Anthony reposted the clip shared by Overtime on Twitter.
Even LeBron James was entertained by the hilarious dance moves of his close friend Carmelo and left a comment on his post.
"🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. The foot though!!" LeBron wrote.
Carmelo Anthony, who played in the NBA for two decades, has been instrumental in his son's burgeoning basketball career. Kiyan plays for Anthony's Team Melo in the AAU circuit and he had an outstanding run in the 2024 Nike EYBL Peach Jam.
However, Kiyan wants to create his own name and legacy away from the glitz and glamour of his father's stardom.
"I want to be the first pick in the NBA draft. I want to show the world I'm not just an NBA player's son," Kiyan said during an episode of Overtime's 'The Evolu7ion'. "I'm ready to really step into the shoes that I need to fill ... I'm trying to get in NBA ... so to myself I want to prove that I'm one of the best players in the country for real."
Carmelo Anthony says Kiyan must overcome challenges to play at his level
Comparison is common in the sports world, especially among famous athletes and their children. Kiyan is often a subject of comparison with his father Carmelo Anthony. But the former Knicks star thinks Kiyan has a long way to go.
"You have to go through a lot to be better in the sense of just longevity, career… what you have to go through on a day-to-day basis the prep. Like it takes a lot to go into being great," Anthony said. [via All The Smoke]
"But it seems like he has a head start. So it’s beautiful to see that he has that head start and I could just meet him where he’s at, and just give him the steps that he needs and the things that he needs."
Carmelo Anthony's son is closely following in his footsteps and is reportedly likely to join Syracuse to begin his college career. According to On3's Recruiting Prediction Machine, Syracuse has an 89.4% chance of landing Kiyan.
