10 College Football wide receivers who look scary in 2024 Bowl season ft. Travis Hunter
The holidays are about giving, and some wide receivers are about to give fans one more show. The 2024 season is winding down, but some impressive pass catchers are just warming up. Here's a rundown of ten top receivers to watch in the bowl season.
10 wide receivers to watch in 2024's bowl games
10. Antonio Williams, Clemson
Williams was a significant factor in Clemson sneaking its way into the College Playoff Field. The third-year pass catcher snagged 71 catches for 838 yards and 10 touchdowns. Williams topped 100 yards once all season but grabbed three or more catches in every game. He also posted three games with two touchdowns.
Look for him in the CFP first-round matchup against Texas at the Longhorns' home stadium on Saturday.
9. Jeremiah Smith, Ohio State
Smith is simply one of the best freshman receivers in memory. The freshman caught 57 passes for 934 yards and 10 touchdowns. He also caught three or more passes in each game and surpassed 100 yards three times. His quest to crack 1,000 yards is one of many stories to watch in Ohio State's CFP first-round game against Tennessee on Saturday.
8. Kyle Williams, Washington State
Williams came to Washington State from UNLV. In two seasons, he became a star as a Cougar. In his senior year, 2024, he grabbed 60 receptions for 1,026 yards and 13 touchdowns. Williams has recorded four 100+ yard games and even had a pair of three-touchdown performances. His matchup with Syracuse in the Holiday Bowl should be highly entertaining.
7. Ricky White III, UNLV
White's stats have dropped slightly from 2023, but he's still a must-see target. White has posted 79 receptions for 1,041 yards and 11 touchdowns. He managed five 100+ yard performances, including a three-game stretch earlier in the season. His Rebels face California on Wednesday in the LA Bowl.
6. Jayden Higgins, Iowa State
A 6-foot-4 senior, Higgins has recorded 87 receptions for 1,183 yards and nine touchdowns. He had five 100+ yard games, all of which came after September. His Cyclones will face Miami in the Pop-Tarts Bowl on Saturday.
5. Ryan Williams, Alabama
Williams and the Tide missed the CFP and might have a big statement to make. The freshman has 45 catches for 857 yards and eight touchdowns this season. Williams had only one touchdown and no games over 100 yards since mid-October, so he's due for a big performance against Michigan on Dec. 31, in the ReliaQuest Bowl.
4. Xavier Restrepo, Miami
One of the top receivers in the sport, Restrepo had a sterling 2024 season. He posted 69 catches for 1,127 yards and 11 touchdowns. Restrepo had six games with 100+ yards and another with 99 yards. He should be up for a big Pop-Tarts Bowl performance in his final game as a Hurricane against the Iowa State Cyclones on Dec. 28.
3. Tez Johnson, Oregon
An integral part of the top-ranked Ducks, Johnson has 78 receptions for 866 yards and 10 touchdowns, despite missing two full games and most of another due to injury. He had four 100+ yard games, including 181 yards against Penn State in the Big Ten title game. He'll get an extra week of rest but will be worth watching in Oregon's CFP matchup in the Rose Bowl.
2. Nick Nash, San Jose State
Nash remains the best-unheralded player in college football. All he did this season was grab 104 passes for 1,382 yards and 16 touchdowns. Aside from a disappointing game against UNLV, Nash had five or more catches and 75 or more yards in every other game this year. The UNLV loss is the only game in which he didn't catch a touchdown.
He'll go out big in the Hawaii Bowl against South Florida on Christmas Eve.
1. Travis Hunter, Colorado
The reigning Heisman winner should have another big show left. Hunter has 92 receptions for 1,152 yards and 14 touchdowns. The dual-threat had seven 100+ yard matchups and caught five touchdowns in the last two games. An Alamo Bowl game against BYU should be a fun way to conclude an epic season and college career as a star receiver on Dec. 28.
