"$100 million yess": Fans drop wild reactions to Deion Sanders' special insurance scheme for son Shedeur & Travis Hunter in Alamo Bowl

College football fans are buzzing after Deion Sanders revealed a groundbreaking insurance plan for his star players, Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter, ahead of the Alamo Bowl.

Both players, whose NIL values are $6.5 million and $5.7 million respectively (as reported by On3), will receive unprecedented injury coverage during the bowl game.

During Monday’s media session, Coach Prime, alongside Colorado athletic director Rick George, announced the initiative aimed at safeguarding players from potential career-threatening injuries. George praised Sanders’ vision, prioritizing the players’ future.

Fans had plenty to say about the move. One commented:

“$100M yesssss”

“Aren’t these players millionaires already from NIL?” one wrote.

“After this year bet he doesn't do as much as he has done for them with any other players,” another wrote.

“They will not be the top two picks,” one wrote.

“This happens everywhere. Why a press conference, oh, I know,” a fan wrote.

“Schools have been taking out policies on athletes for a while. Not anything new,” another wrote.

Colorado is no stranger to San Antonio or the Alamo Bowl atmosphere

In recent years, skipping bowl games has become common among college football players projected as high draft picks—unless those games are part of the playoffs. However, Coach Prime made it clear he expected his stars, Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter, to suit up.

The 9-3 Colorado Buffaloes are gearing up for their fourth Alamo Bowl appearance, set for Saturday at 5:30 p.m. (MT) against fellow Big 12 contender BYU (10-2) at the Alamodome (ABC).

"The purpose is to win the game," he said [H/t CU Buffs]. "It's like the main course… We're here to win this football game."

Colorado is no stranger to San Antonio or the Alamo Bowl atmosphere, having appeared three times before—in 2002, 2016, and 2020. The Buffs are also looking to end a four-game bowl losing streak, with their last postseason victory coming in the 2004 Houston Bowl, a 33-28 win over UTEP.
