3 reasons Colorado lost to Nebraska in Week 2
After the game, fans talked about the performance of the Colorado Buffaloes. There are several reasons the team struggled to compete with Nebraska, but these are three things that stood out.
#1 The offensive line could not keep Shedeur Sanders safe
Shedeur Sanders is a star quarterback for the Buffaloes, but it does not matter how good your QB is if he has no time to throw the ball. Sanders was sacked four times before halftime, and five times in total before he was taken out of the game.
The Buffaloes' offensive line was something fans and experts were concerned about before the season, and now there is evidence to show it does have serious issues. It also does not help that Deion Sanders, the coach and father of Shedeur Sanders, often openly criticizes the O-line.
#2 The Buffaloes struggled to convert in the red zone
Despite the issues with the offensive line, Colorado was still able to get down the field a few times and reach the red zone. However, when the Buffaloes got there, they were unable to convert. The team failed to convert on fourth down attempts and even missed a short 29-yard field goal attempt in the second quarter. The kick was blocked because of poor blocking once again.
#3 The Buffaloes had too many turnovers
Turnovers are incredibly costly in football and that proved to be the case for the Buffaloes on Saturday. Shedeur Sanders threw an interception, and there was also a fumble from the Colorado offense.
The Buffaloes had two total turnovers while Nebraska had none. Additionally, the Buffaloes went for it on fourth down three times and only converted once. That is two more drives ending without a score or punting the ball and gave Nebraska good field position. Even if the Buffs never turned the ball over, that would've still been a big issue for them.
