3 SEC players in contention for Heisman Trophy after Week 3 games ft. Carson Beck

SEC is one of the most competitive conferences in all of college football. The Heisman Trophy is given to individuals who put up the best performance each season. Last year, LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels won the coveted trophy. The year before, it was Caleb Williams from the USC Trojans. Both would go on to get picked first and second in the 2024 NFL draft.

Several names from the Southeastern Conference come to mind to pick contenders for the Heisman. Let's take a look at the three best-placed individuals in the running for the award after Week 3.

The narrative from whether Jalen Milroe could lead Alabama to a national championship last season to a Heisman contender this season changed pretty fast. Milroe is the quarterback for the No. 4 ranked program in the country which crushed the Wisconsin Badgers on Saturday.

Milroe threw three touchdowns after completing 12 of 17 passes for 196 yards. He also added two rushing scores and 75 yards off 14 attempts.

#2: Quinn Ewers, Texas

Texas is one of the best teams to win the natty this season, and the reason is the splendid performances consistently put on the board by QB1 Quinn Ewers.

While most of the spotlight turned to backup Arch Manning, who threw four touchdown passes in a blowout win against the UTSA Roadrunners, Ewers also shone, throwing two touchdowns and one interception. The only setback here would be his availability since he left the Week 3 game injured.

#1: Carson Beck, Georgia

Being the quarterback for the best football program in the nation is itself a big recognition to be a Heisman contender. Beck's consistent play only proves the point further.

Last week, however, things got tense in the game against the Kentucky Wildcats. The Wildcats led the game until a rushing touchdown to start the fourth quarter by Branson Robinson gave the Longhorns the breakthrough and first lead of the contest. In the matchup, Beck was a little off-color, completing 15 of 24 passes for 160 yards.

However, his season numbers are much better. In three games, he has passed for 680 yards on a 68.3% completion rate, including seven touchdowns as well.
