The Illinois Fighting Illini have gotten off to a great start to the 2024 season. After entering the year unranked - and failing to receive any votes in the preseason AP Top 25 Poll - Bret Bielema's squad has won their first three games, including a Week 2 victory over the then-No.19-ranked Kansas Jayhawks.
The Fighting Illini entered the latest rendition of the AP Top 25 Poll, as they are ranked 24th in the nation. They kick off Big Ten play this weekend, as they travel to Lincoln to face the No.22-ranked Nebraska Cornhuskers. Five Illinois Fighting Illini players who could pose serious threat to Nebraska's Week 4 aspirations
#1 Luke Altmyer
Altmyer initially joined the Ole Miss Rebels as a four-star prospect in the 2021 recruiting class.
He joined the Illinois Fighting Illini via the transfer portal ahead of the 2023 season. He has gotten off to a strong start, throwing for 647 yards, six touchdowns and no interceptions while completing 69.2% of his passes.
#2 Pat Bryant
Bryant joined the Illinois Fighting Illini as a three-star prospect in the 2021 recruiting class. He has been a big part of their offense, as he has hauled in 15 passes for 235 yards and four touchdowns.
#3 Kaden Feagin
Feagin joined the Illinois Fighting Illini as a three-star prospect in the 2023 recruiting class.
He has found the end zone in his first three games this year, recording 173 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 42 carries. He has also caught three passes for 25 yards.
#4 Xavier Scott
Scott joined the Illinois Fighting Illini as a three-star prospect in the 2022 recruiting class.
He has been among the best defensive backs in the nation in the early portion of the season, recording 12 total tackles, 11 of which were solo tackles, one tackle for loss, 1.0 sacks, three interceptions, one of which he returned for a touchdown and one forced fumble.
#5 Miles Scott
Scott joined the Illinois Fighting Illini as a three-star prospect in the 2020 recruiting class. He has recorded 13 tackles, six of which were solo tackles, two interceptions, one forced fumble and one pass defended.
