5 teams that are ranked way too high entering Week 10 of college football ft. Georgia
The Week 10 AP Poll has been released, and while some teams have dominated, others seem to be ranked a bit too high. With the regular season only a few weeks away from ending, several intriguing programs appear to be overrated. Let's take a look at teams that are ranked higher than they should be in the Week 10 AP Poll.
Teams Ranked Too High in AP Week 10 Poll
Washington State Cougars
The Washington State Cougars are a tricky team to put up in the AP Poll as they are 22nd in the nation with a 7-1 record. They went up against one ranked program, as they are playing the Mountain West Conference schedule this season, and lost 45-24 to the Boise State Broncos (No. 15, 6-1).
The Cougars barely stayed alive last week against an unranked San Diego State program. They should not be ranked right now.
Tennessee Volunteers
The Tennessee Volunteers (6-1) are the seventh-ranked program according to the AP Poll and the third-best SEC team. While good, the Texas A&M Aggies (No. 10, 7-1) and BYU Cougars (No. 9, 8-0) are behind them, and that feels like a bit of an oversight by the voting committee.
The Vols have the resume, but with a loss to an unranked Arkansas, it feels too high to keep them where they are. If they switched with the Aggies, it would make more sense.
Georgia Bulldogs
The Georgia Bulldogs are second in college football in the AP Poll and actually received a first-place vote, but this is just too high. There are other undefeated Power Five teams like Penn State (No. 3, 7-0) and Miami (FL) (No. 5, 8-0) underneath them.
This is encompassing the entire season, where they lost to the Alabama Crimson Tide, were almost upset against the Kentucky Wildcats and allowed 31 points to the Mississippi State Bulldogs. The Bulldogs are a great team, but second in the nation is just too high for them right now. Maybe after the Ole Miss and Tennessee games.
Clemson Tigers
This is not to say that the Clemson Tigers (6-1) are not deserving of the 11th spot in the AP Poll as they are leading the ACC right now. However, they have played one ranked opponent, and that game saw Georgia dominate them on a neutral field 34-3.
The Tigers should be within the top 15, but this just feels a bit too high as the Iowa State Cyclones (No. 12, 7-0) and Indiana Hoosiers (No. 13, 8-0) are both undefeated and behind them in the rankings.
Ole Miss Rebels
The Ole Miss Rebels (6-2) are currently 19th entering Week 10, and that just feels a bit too high. They are ahead of teams like the SMU Mustangs (No. 20, 7-1) and Army Black Knights (No. 21, 7-0), who have better records. The Rebels faced one ranked team in LSU and lost, so they have not looked great against superior teams.
Going 2-2 in their last four games also isn't a recipe for being the 19th-ranked program in the country. They should be fighting to stay alive right now in the ranking's mid-20s.
