Tonight will be the second, third and fourth rounds so a lot of players will figure out where their NFL careers will begin. Let's take a deeper dive into the Longhorns program and discuss who are some of their best prospects that were not drafted with the first 32 selections and could hear their names tonight.
Top 5 Texas players on Day 2 of 2024 NFL Draft
#5 Christian Jones, OT
Offensive tackle Christian Jones is a great offensive lineman and will be chosen on Day 2 of the NFL draft. He has a massive frame standing at 6-foot-6 and 321 pounds so he can protect against the edge rusher. Expect a team to be extremely excited about its quarterback as he can play on either side of the offensive line.

#4 Ja'Tavion Sanders, TE
Tight end Ja'Tavion Sanders has been doing well and will be a strong player at the position, especially as a viable vertical threat. He was used well last season in the passing game as he had 45 receptions for 682 yards (15.2 yards per catch) with a pair of touchdowns. He can make contested catches and line up in different spots on the offense, so Sanders should be picked on Day 2 early in the second round.
#3 T'Vondre Sweat, DT
Defensive tackle T'Vondre Sweat has great size for a defensive tackle at 6-foot-4 with 362 pounds while also leading all defensive linemen with a 91.7 Pro Football Focus grade during the 2023 season. He dominates against the running game and does extremely well being a pass-rusher. Sweat moved around the defensive line a bit. He finished last season with 45 total tackles, a pair of sacks and five pass deflections.
#2 Jonathon Brooks, RB
Running back Jonathon Brooks has been doing very well as he has 187 rushing attempts for 1,139 yards (6.1 yards per carry) with 10 rushing touchdowns as well as 25 receptions for 286 yards (11.4 yards per catch) with a touchdown reception. However, he missed the last handful of games as he suffered a torn ACL in November, but should be completely healthy. Brooks has a great frame and should be considered one of the best players on the board.
#1 Adonai Mitchell, WR
Texas wide receiver Adonai Mitchell was excellent in the 2023 season, as he posted 55 catches for 845 yards (15.4 yards per reception) with 11 touchdowns. He has good size at 6-foot-4 and should be able to be a WR1 with some upside as he is not going to drop passes and should do incredibly well as a red zone threat.
