5 USC stars that could become a threat for Sherrone Moore's Michigan at Ann Arbor in Week 4
One of Week 4's marquee matchups comes when the No. 11 USC Trojans travel to face the No. 18 Michigan Wolverines. USC is 2-0, while Michigan is sitting at 2-1, with the Trojans a 4.5-point road favorite heading into the game.
Here are five USC standouts who could make Sherrone Moore's Saturday memorable for the wrong reasons.
5 USC stars that could become a threat for Sherrone Moore and Michigan
#5. Jonah Monheim, C
Monheim is a 6-foot-5, 305-pound offensive lineman who could help the Trojans win the war in the trenches. Monheim, who also plays center, started on the offensive line over each of the past two seasons. During that run, USC averaged 41.4 and 41.8 points per game, picking up 507 yards per game in 2022, or 468 yards per game in 2024.
Monheim and his fellow offensive linemen have allowed just two sacks in 2024 so far. Meanwhile, Michigan's defense is fairly ho-hum so far, ranking near the bottom in several league-wide categories. If Monheim can help keep the Wolverines off balance, he could be a very significant help to the team.
#4. Eric Gentry, LB
At 6-foot-6 and 215 pounds, Gentry is a speedy, versatile linebacker. His 14 tackles and 3.5 tackles for loss both lead USC's team. While Gentry is a bit lighter than most Big Ten linebackers, his tenacity and nose for the game make him a potential impact player from the first snap.
#3. Lake McRee, TE
So far this year, the Trojans' top receiver has been tight end McRee. At 6-foot-4 and 245 pounds, McRee caught 26 passes for 262 yards in 2023. So far in 2024, he has nine receptions for 137 yards. His size and experience will make him a significant red zone target for the Trojans.
#2. Woody Marks, RB
Marks was stuck in Mike Leach's pass-heavy offense at Mississippi State. But after Leach's death, Marks transferred to USC and has been effective so far. In two games, Marks has 29 rushes for 171 yards and three scores. He has also channeled his MSU days by catching six passes already.
#1. Miller Moss, QB
Miller Moss has been incredibly efficient for the Trojans in 2024. The junior bided his time until he earned the starting job this year. So far, Moss has completed just under 73 percent of his passes for 607 yards in just two games. He might not quite equal previous USC QB Caleb Williams, but Moss is a solid talent with a good arm. He'll be a handful for the Wolverines.
