5 worst Big 12 teams in College Football 25 ft. Houston

EA Sports College Football 25 has plenty of conferences up for grabs, but arguably none more than the Big 12. Only nine rating points separate the league's top and bottom teams. Nevertheless, here are the bottom five teams from the Big 12 in College Football 25.

#5. BYU (79 overall, 79 offense, 76 defense)

The bottom five teams are all rated 79 overall, and each also has a 79-rated offense, with only minimal differences in defense distinguishing them. BYU had five straight winning seasons before last year's 5-7 mark. Coach Kalani Sitake has a fairly unexceptional team. BYU's best player is probably defensive end Tyler Batty.

#4. TCU (79 overall, 79 offense, 74 defense)

Sonny Dykes' TCU got a raw deal on this rating. A year ago, TCU was 5-7, but in 2022, they went 13-2. QB Josh Hoover impressed in half a season after taking over the job due to injuries. Hoover threw for 2,206 yards and 15 TDs, and TCU returned its top two receivers. A team that averaged 31.3 points per game a year ago really shouldn't be bad. EA Sports apparently disagrees.

#3. Arizona State (79 overall, 79 offense, 74 defense)

The Sun Devils are coming off back-to-back 3-9 campaigns, and second-year coach Kenny Dillingham has his work cut out. Last year, ASU allowed over 31 points per game and scored just under 18. Their line play isn't bad, and safety Shamari Simmons is a keeper, but this team will likely struggle in 2024.

#2. Cincinnati (79 overall, 79 offense, 73 defense)

Scott Satterfield's first year at UC was basically a disaster. But beneath a 3-9 team in 2023 lurked a decent squad. Satterfield has an excellent 1-2 punch on offense, with running back Corey Kiner, who rushed for 1,047 yards last year and receiver Xzavier Henderson, a Florida transfer who had 782 yards receiving a year ago. If defensive coordinator Tyson Veidt can help, UC could be better than this ranking in 2024.

#1. Houston (79 overall, 79 offense, 73 defense)

The best thing about Houston, which welcomes former Tulane coach Willie Fritz this year, is returning QB Donovan Smith. Last year, Smith passed for 2,801 yards and 22 TDs while rushing for 428 yards and six TDs. Still, there are problems. The defense allowed 31.5 points per game last year. Defensive end Keith Cooper Jr. came with Fritz from Tulane, but he needs more quality teammates.
