7x national champ Nick Saban unknowingly helped Ryan Day put things into perspective following 2023 CFB season
Former Alabama Crimson Tide coach Nick Saban's retirement was a big shock to many, including Ohio State coach Ryan Day. However, in a strange way, Day was able to benefit from Saban's retirement.
In a conversation with Josh Pate, Day talked about how he felt following legendary coach Nick Saban's retirement. He was talking about Alabama's attitude following their Rose Bowl loss:
"I felt that pain, because, you know, I've gone through some of those similar things. Coach Saban's past and history, and what he's done is just unbelievable. So to hear somebody that's been through all these different things in college football, these changes in college football, kind of recognize that as such a big challenge right now.
"You know, it gives you some pause, makes you really think, you know, but I also am trying to, you know, really put perspective on it all. Because I know it sounds a little deep, but the truth is, like the order of the entire universe is chaos, and that's kind of the way life is, chaotic".
Nick Saban had a successful run in the 2023 college football season owing to his electrifying 12-2 record. The Alabama team fell short of their seventh national championship though.
On January 11, 2024, he announced his retirement after 17 glorious years as their head coach, leaving many fans worried about the program's future.
Saban blamed a huge part of his retirement on the current state of college football, including lucrative NIL deals and transfer portal havoc.
Where is Nick Saban now?
The former Alabama head coach is now spending his time doing things that he didn't have time for earlier. One of the activities he's been indulging in after completing the tasks allotted by Miss Terry is playing golf.
The 72-year-old has been participating in golf events and spending time with his family members.
Apart from this, the former head coach has also joined ESPN College Gameday as an analyst and made his first appearance during the 2024 NFL Draft.
Fans loved watching Nick Saban in his new avatar and he received a lot of appreciation for the event from fans and other analysts all around the country.
“I thought he was sensational,” College Gameday host Rece Davis said on The Pat McAfee Show on Tuesday. “He was so prepared, which comes as no surprise to you guys or to anyone else. He had studied tape. He had read stuff on guys. He had talked to general managers, he had talked to coaches. He knew this stuff inside out," Davis said.
Fans would be interested to see Nick Saban's new avatar during the 2024 college football season and hear his insights. The legendary coach knows more than others about strategies and tactics, explaining them shouldn't be a problem for him.
