Arch Manning vs General Booty: Who’s the better player?

With Texas preparing to enter the Arch Manning era in today's game with the University of Louisiana Monroe, there's plenty of compelling stories. Manning's opposing quarterback will be the uniquely named ULM starter, General Booty. As the Longhorns prepare to open the Manning Era as a 43.5 point favorite, here's a rundown on the two QBs.

Here's how the numbers stack up between the two-time senior transfer from ULM and the Texas freshman. One thing not many fans will realize is that both Manning and Booty have ties to a family tree of QBs. While Arch's connections to Peyton, Eli and Archie Manning, his uncles and grandfather, are common knowledge, General Booty's uncles Josh, who quarterbacked at LSU and John David who played for USC.

Arch Manning stats

At Isidore Newman high school in New Orleans, Arch Manning passed for 8,599 yards and 115 touchdown while rushing for an additional 1,155 yards and 25 touchdowns. While Arch redshirted in 2023, he did obtain a small sample of Texas game action. Manning was 2 for 5 passing for 30 yards in 2023.

So far in 2024, Manning has shown his all-world skills. Manning has been 14 for 18 passing for 318 yards and five touchdowns. Perhaps even more impressive, Manning has six carries for 53 yards and a pair of touchdowns. With Texas a massive favorite this afternoon against the Warhawks of ULM, Manning is likely to add another layer of shine to his numbers.

General Booty stats

Booty played his high school football at Allen High School in Allen, Texas. During his senior season in 2020, Booty passed for 2,235 yards and 26 scores, while rushing for an additional 401 yards and nine touchdowns.

In 2021, Booty went to Tyler Junior College in Tyler, Texas. He passed for 3,410 yards and 27 touchdowns in his JUCO season, while rushing for an addition 250 yards and two scores for a 7-5 team.

Next, Booty moved along to Oklahoma, where he played in a pair of games over two seasons without accruing any statistics. He then transferred to ULM.

With the Warhawks, Booty has been 19 for 30 passing for 191 yards with a touchdown. On the ground, he has added another 46 yards on nine carries. As a junior, Booty will have another season of college eligbility.
