Arkansas quarterback 2024: Who is likely to start for Sam Pittman's Razorbacks this season?
The Arkansas Razorbacks are going to have a new quarterback leading the program into the 2024 college football season after starting quarterback KJ Jefferson announced he was transferring to the UCF Knights. With a tough Southeastern Conference, figuring out the man under center is going to be significant for a team looking to improve from a 4-8 (1-7 SEC) record.
Which quarterback will be breaking the huddle to begin the season on August 29 against the Arkansas-Pine Bluff Golden Lions?
Who will be the starting quarterback for the Arkansas Razorbacks?
Taylen Green
Taylen Green transferred to the Arkansas Razorbacks this offseason after spending the previous three seasons with the Boise State Broncos. He did a decent job under center in 2023 as he went 121-of-212 (57.1%) for 1,752 yards with 11 touchdown passes to nine interceptions while also running 78 times for 436 yards (5.6 yards per carry) with nine rushing touchdowns. As a quarterback with some experience and doing decently well in 2023, expect him to transfer in as the starting quarterback for Arkansas.
Malachi Singleton
Malachi Singleton did not see the field at all in his true freshman season with the Arkansas Razorbacks but he does know the system after sitting on the bench for Sam Pittman in 2023. He was a four-star recruit out of high school and is a true dual-threat quarterback. With the speed of the game-changing from high school to Southeastern Conference action, expect Singleton to compete for the backup quarterback with the next name.
KJ Jackson
KJ Jackson is a true freshman heading to the Arkansas Razorbacks and was a four-star prospect out of St. James High School in Montgomery, Alabama. As a high school senior, he finished 147-of-259 (56.8%) for 2,951 yards with 43 passing touchdowns while running in an additional 14 touchdowns. He has been a winner throughout his high school career and should be in competition for the backup spot. However, expect to see KJ Jackson have a similar process as Malachi Singleton did last season and just get used to the speed of the game on the bench and in practices.
