Cal joining ACC after conference realignment draws biggest similarity with Earth's circumference in 2024
Conference realignment has significantly changed the way college sports is viewed. The ACC has seen one of the massive changes in recent times. They decided to add the California Golden Bears, Stanford Cardinal and the SMU Mustangs ahead of the upcoming college football season.
CBS Sports college football reporter Josh Pate made a striking observation. He noted that the California Golden Bears are going to be traveling almost as much as the Earth's circumference for their road games this season.
The Golden Bears have road games against the Auburn Tigers, Florida State Seminoles, Pittsburgh Panthers, Wake Forest Demon Deacons and the Mustangs.
The travel schedule is spread out and the Golden Bears are on the West Coast, while being in a conference based on the Atlantic coast. Thus, expect to see a lot more traveling in the near future.
Conference realignment has made this possible where college athletes are traveling as much as professionals. It will be intriguing to see how this looks, not just for college football, but for college athletics.
What should we expect out of the California Golden Bears in the ACC with conference realignment?
The California Golden Bears are not pushovers by any sense of the word as they were able to end the 2023 college football regular season strong and make a bowl game. The team was able to win their final three regular-season games to go 6-6, but lost to the Texas Tech Red Raiders in the Independence Bowl.
By being in the ACC, the California Golden Bears will now be viewed by recruits on the Eastern Coast of the United States. This will be a great move for them going forward, despite the struggles of traveling across the country multiple times this week.
