A few hours before the Heisman Ceremony, the Cam Ward vs Dillon Gabriel debate has no clear winner. Both quarterbacks are listed at +25000 to win the award on BetMGM, tied for the third-longest odds among the finalists.
If the College Football Awards are an indication, the Hurricanes quarterback seems to be just a step ahead in the Cam Ward vs Dillon Gabriel race. Ward won the Davey O'Brien Award, given to the nation's best quarterback.

Jeanty ran for 2,497 yards and 29 touchdowns. He was the nation's leading rusher and the main reason Boise State made it to the College Football Playoff as a No.3 seed.

Ward was the second-leading passer in the FBS with 4,123 yards. The Miami Hurricanes quarterback led the nation with 36 touchdowns and had only seven interceptions. He also kept Miami in a College Football Playoff spot for most of the year. However, a close loss to the Syracuse Orange in their final game of the season kept them out of the CFP.
The Hurricanes offense was also the best in college football with 44 points per game.
The fifth-year senior quarterback transferred from Washington State after two years in Pullman. He had played two seasons at Incarnate Word before joining the Cougars.
The case for Dillon Gabriel
Dillon Gabriel will be in the CFP as he led the Oregon Ducks to an undefeated season and the No. 1 ranking in the CFP poll. Gabriel passed for 3,558 yards, 28 touchdowns, and six interceptions.
While his stats aren't as impressive as those of the other finalists, he is the best player on the best team. He has also saved his best for the biggest games.
Against Ohio State, Gabriel went 23-for-34 with two touchdowns. He also led a 74-yard drive to set up the eventual game-winning field goal. In the Big Ten Championship versus Penn State, he was 22-for-32 for 283 yards and four touchdowns.
