CFB insiders predict Mike Gundy’s decision to bring Oklahoma State RB Ollie Gordon to the Big 12 media to be a “complete disaster”

Ollie Gordon is set to appear on the Big 12 media days. The Oklahoma State star will face the media for the first time since his DUI arrest earlier in the month.

However, the team of analysts on the Next Round Live had some choice words on Oklahoma State's decision to send Gordon to face the media.

Jim Dunaway said,

"Ollie Gordon is actually going to be at the Big 12 media day in Las Vegas after his DWI arrest. Yesterday, he apologized for his actions on all his social media accounts. But they're still sending him to Big 12 media. It's so dumb, so stupid."

Ryan Brown and Lance Taylor continued interchangeably,

"Taylor sent us that tweet that Ollie Gordon was going to be in Las Vegas and was going to represent Oklahoma State. And so I started discussing it with her in the office, and you don't let him in because it is a complete disaster. Like if you say I'm not talking about I can't talk about legal issues. It puts everybody in a bad situation, and it becomes one of the top storylines of Big 12 media day.

The analysts made some important points, as this decision by Oklahoma State could backfire spectacularly.

What happened to Ollie Gordon?

According to ESPN, Ollie Gordon was arrested earlier in July on suspicion of driving under the influence. According to the report, Gordon was pulled over by troopers in the Oklahoma City area after he swerved his car into a different lane and was found speeding 17 miles per hour over the speed limit of 65.

Upon stopping Gordon, a trooper detected the smell of alcohol from his car. The Oklahoma State star running back then admitted that he had an open bottle of vodka and tequila in the vehicle. The report states that the bottle was half empty.

The troopers then proceeded to ask Gordon to take a sobriety test, which he refused. He was subsequently arrested on a complaint of DUI, failure to maintain single-lane traffic, transport of an open container of alcohol, and speeding.

Upon getting to Cleveland County Jail, Gordon took a blood alcohol test. The results came in at a blood alcohol level of 0.11% and 0.10%. It's worth noting that Oklahoma's legal blood alcohol content limit for driving is 0.08%. Gordon has since apologized for his actions.

What to expect from Oklahoma State in 2024

The Oklahoma State Cowboys will be looking to overcome their star running back's recent issues. They have to be on their A game ahead of the upcoming season.

We expect the Cowboys to be one of the best teams in the Big 12 in 2024. The program still has last year's quarterback, Alan Bowman, and Ollie Gordon, who is entering what's likely to be his last year in college.

The Cowboys finished last season with a 10-4 record and beat Texas A&M in the TaxAct Texas Bowl. They should be aiming for an even better season in 2024.
