College Football Playoff, first round: All Indiana players who entered transfer portal before Notre Dame faceoff

The Indiana Hoosiers have hit the college football lottery, earning a spot in the first-ever 12-team College Football Playoff. The transfer portal hasn't been a significant issue for the Hoosiers, as most players have stayed in the proverbial boat ahead of the battle with Notre Dame. Still, here's the rundown of the Hoosiers who have chosen to enter the portal.

Elijah Green, RB

Green transferred to Indiana from North Carolina. He had a big 2022 season with UNC, rushing for 558 yards and eight touchdowns. He was limited to just seven games with IU, rushing for 201 yards and five touchdowns. He'll have a single season of eligibility remaining for his new portal destination.

Joshua Randolph, LB

A portal addition from Austin Peay, Randolph played sparingly for the Hoosiers in 2023 but didn't see any action in 2024. Randolph had 16 tackles and two tackles for loss in his time at IU. Randolph has a season of eligibility remaining.

Noah Bolticoff, OL

A transfer from TCU, Bolticoff played in one game in 2021 and then six games in 2022. Bolticoff hasn't seen any time in two seasons at Indiana. He only has a year remaining of eligibility.

DJ Warnell Jr., S

Warnell spent two seasons at UCLA and then two more years at Arizona ahead of transferring to Indiana for 2024. Warnell saw minimal time at UCLA but played in 24 games at Arizona, even making a pair of starts. Warnell played in four games at IU, making four tackles. He preserved his redshirt and thus will have a single remaining year of eligibility.

Donaven McCulley, WR

A highly-regarded wide receiver, McCulley never really got started in 2024. A senior, he had 48 catches for 644 yards in 2023, earning honorable mention All-Big Ten status. But he played in just three games in 2024, ultimately deciding to opt out of the season and preserve his redshirt. McCulley has already chosen to move on to Michigan.

McCulley actually entered the portal a season ago but ultimately decided to stick with Indiana. But a subpar open to the 2024 season scuttled that plan and his him moving on to the Wolverines for one final season.

Nahji Logan, LB

A transfer from UMass, Logan had 128 tackles and 10 tackles for loss in four seasons with the Minutemen. That included 60 tackles in 2023. But in 2024, Logan played in just four games with the Hoosiers and didn't make a tackle. He thus retains a final season of eligibility for his next portal stop.

Tyrik McDaniel, S

McDaniel spent two seasons at Old Dominion and another year at Independence Community College. In two seasons at IU, McDaniel made just five tackles. He played in only four games in 2024 and thus will have a remaining season of eligibility. The Diego Pavia decision could even open up additional eligibility for McDaniel.
