College football transfer portal: 10 best available players teams should target before 2025
The college football transfer portal is humming. With players coming and going, the portal environment is a constant whir of excitement.
On that note, here are the 10 top players available in the market who should be portal priorities.
Top 10 players available in transfer portal
#10 Duce Robinson, USC
Robinson spent two years at USC and showed flashes of greatness. He needs to get more consistent, but as a 6-foot-6 receiver, his deep ball and red zone playmaking skills make him a standout.
Robinson caught 39 passes for 747 yards and seven touchdowns in two years, but he could equal those numbers in a year at his next stop.
#9 Maalik Murphy, Duke
A sophomore from California, the 6-foot-5 Murphy passed for 2,933 yards and 26 touchdowns in leading Duke to a 9-3 season. He's mostly a pocket passer but has impressive athleticism and enough arm talent to succeed more impresseively at his next portal stop.
#8 Fernando Mendoza, California
Mendoza has seen the season in two years at Cal. In 2024, he threw for 3,004 yards and 16 touchdowns. At 6-foot-5, he has the size and pocket presence teams are seeking. He's a high-upside guy who's still getting better at football but is prepared to lead a top program.
#7 Luke Kromenhoek, Florida State
Kromenhoek saw some playing time at Florida State, throwing 84 passes during the Seminoles' disastrous 2-10 campaign.
Kromenhoek isn't a finished product but is a very savvy and capable quarterback. Landing with a good offensive coordinator and a more finished group of skill position players will give him a new lease on life.
#6 Nic Anderson, Oklaoma
Anderson is an outstanding 6-foot-4 receiver who's looking to move on from the struggling Oklahoma offense.
In 2024, he snagged 38 passes for 798 yards and 10 touchdowns. His ability as a playmaking receiver on the outside makes him a priority in portal recruiting. Anderson needs a next stop en route the NFL.
#5 Dane Key, Kentucky
A 6-foot-3 receiver, Key has excellent athleticism and ball skills. In 2024, he caught 47 passes for 715 yards for an inept Kentucky passing game.
Key has seen significant time since the day he arrived at Kentucky. Given the change to use his size and skills, he's going to impress at his next transfer portal destination.
#4 KC Concepcion, NC State
Concepcion struggled in a disappointing 2024 campaign. But in 2023, as a freshman, he caught 71 passes for 839 yards and 10 touchdowns.
Concepcion hasn't forgotten how to play but has been hamstrung by a subpar offense. At his next stop, he's likely to meet or exceed those freshman year numbers.
#3 Tacario Davis, Arizona
A 6-foot-4 cornerback, Davis broke up 23 passes over the past two seasons. His 2024 season wasn't as spectacular as 2023, largely because teams stopped throwing at him.
Davis is tall, physical and capable of being a shut-down corner, particularly at a team with a more talented front seven that he played in front of at Arizona.
#2 John Mateer, Washington State
Mateer had seen only a little playing time before 2024 but blew up this season. He threw for 3,139 yards and 29 touchdowns. He rushed for another 826 yards and 15 scores on the ground.
At 6-foot-1, Mateer is a bit small, but his passing and running skills will make him a day one standout.
#1 Eric Singleton, Georgia Tech
Unlike some of the other players, Singleton isn't exceptionally big at just 5-foot-11. But he's skilled and is a tremendous playmaker in space.
In two years at Tech, Singleton has snagged 104 passes for 1,468 yards and nine touchdowns. At a more pass-heavy offense, he can have an All-American 2025 season.
