Daniel Hill transfer portal: 5 landing spots for Alabama RB if he leaves the program ft. Kansas, Ole Miss

Running back Daniel Hill could be looking to transfer to a new team in the offseason. The No. 13 Alabama Crimson Tide haven't utilized Hill in his freshman year as much as other experienced running backs on the team. As the season ends, Hill may consider entering the transfer portal to attend a program with more opportunities to play.

Hill has a total of 21 carries for 61 yards and one touchdown. Alabama (9-3, 5-3 Southeastern Conference) has running backs Jam Miller, Justice Haynes, and Richard Young, who have more touches than him this year and are expected to stay with the team next season. Their return would make Hill's chances of showcasing his skills more challenging. Quarterback Jalen Milroe will also return for his senior year, which could limit opportunities for the freshman. Milroe has the most rushing yards for Alabama this season, with 615 yards.

The running back hasn't expressed interest in transferring to another team. However, Hill may consider leaving if he wants a better chance to perform consistently.

Here are five transfer options where Hill could have more opportunities to play.

#1) Kansas Jayhawks

The Kansas Jayhawks (5-7, 4-5 Big 12) could be a potential landing spot for Hill. Kansas running back Devin Neal seems to be heading to the 2025 NFL draft, which would open up a spot on the roster. Neal leads his team in rushing yards with 199 carries for 1,133 yards and 15 touchdowns.

The freshman might have to compete for the role against Kansas running backs Daniel Hishaw Jr. and Sevion Morrison in the offseason. However, Hill may have a better opportunity to show why he should have more carries.

Ole Miss Rebels

The No. 14 Ole Miss Rebels (9-3, 5-3 SEC) roster will undergo a shake-up in the offseason. Starting quarterback Jaxson Dart and running back Henry Parrish Jr. are expected to enter the 2025 NFL draft. They are the top rushing leaders for Ole Miss, which leaves a void in the team's offense. The closest rushing leader available next season is running back Matt Jones, who has 44 carries for 226 yards and three touchdowns.

Hill can transfer to Ole Miss and be a good addition to the team. Jones' experience would give him the edge of being the first option, but the freshman could still get more playing time.

Arizona Wildcats

The Arizona Wildcats (4-8, 2-7 Big 12) can be another potential landing spot for Hill if he leaves Alabama. Arizona could be without running back Quali Conley, who will be eligible for the NFL draft. The Wildcats have Kedrick Reescano, who will compete next year as a sophomore, to take over as the team's rushing leader. Reescano had 67 carries for 304 yards and one touchdown this season.

Hill may transfer to Arizona for a better opportunity to play a more significant role in the offense.

Texas Tech Red Raiders

The Texas Tech Red Raiders (8-4, 6-3 Big 12) won't have their best running back, Tahj Brooks, after the 2024 season. Brooks is expected to be one of the players in his position to be in the upcoming NFL draft. He has the third-best rushing yards among seniors in the league this year, with 263 carries for 1,317 yards and 14 touchdowns.

Texas Tech will need a running back to step up in his place. They'll have Cameron Dickey in his sophomore year, who has 26 carries for 151 yards and one touchdown this season. The Red Raiders don't have any other returning running backs that have done better statistically than Dickey. Hill can join the team to compete for the primary running back position against Dickey or become the backup option.

Michigan Wolverines

The Michigan Wolverines (7-5, 5-4 Big Ten) will likely lose running backs Kalel Mullings and Donovan Edwards next year. Mullings ends the regular season, leading the team in rushing yards with 153 carries for 832 yards and 11 touchdowns. Edwards comes second in rushing for Michigan with 124 carries for 578 yards and four touchdowns.

Both may try to get drafted into the NFL, creating opportunities for other running backs to take their place. This season, Michigan sophomore Benjamin Hall was the third running back behind Mullings and Edwards in rushing yards, with 13 carries for 44 yards. Hill can make a case to start over Hall if he can transfer and perform well in next year's training camp for the Wolverines.
