Did Stetson Bennett graduate from college? The insane details behind 2-time national championship QB's time at Georgia

Stetson Bennett has transitioned into professional football after being selected in the fourth round with the 128th pick of the 2023 NFL draft. The Georgia Bulldogs product was drafted by the Los Angeles Rams, becoming the seventh quarterback selected in the event.

After starting his college football career with Georgia as a walk-on in 2017, Bennett spent a total of six years in college. However, it's been revealed that the quarterback did not end up graduating despite his long stay.

This was baffling as one would expect him to have graduated after all those years. However, that appears to be the case.

College degree in the bag?

Stetson Bennett's status as an all-time great quarterback for the Georgia Bulldogs is unquestionable. He successfully guided the team to consecutive national championships in 2022 and 2023.

He seems not to have added a degree to this success.

Seth Emerson, who covers Georgia and the SEC for The Athletic, released a list of the program’s former players who are graduating this month and their majors. However, the name of Stetson Bennett was surprisingly absent.

Also, the SEC started a tradition in recent years where graduate players have a badge indicating that status on their jersey. While at Georgia, Bennett never wore an "SEC Graduate" patch on his jersey.

Adding all of this up, it's evident that the new Los Angeles Rams signal-caller is transitioning to the professional world without a degree. This could raise many questions on how the system of student-athlete works.

Despite not graduating, Bennett had a noteworthy and applaudable football career. His story is more amazing when a look is taken at his beginnings as a walk-on with the Georgia Bulldogs before transferring a year after.

Bennett did not play a game his freshman year at Georgia. Following the commitment of highly touted five-star high school quarterback Justin Fields to Georgia in 2018, he transferred to Jones College, a community college.

Following Justin Fields' transfer to Ohio State, the Bulldogs found themselves in need of a backup quarterback. Georgia extended a scholarship offer to Stetson Bennett, which he gladly accepted, becoming the second-string quarterback.

His last two seasons with the Georgia Bulldogs saw him lead the team to two consecutive national championships under coach Kirby Smart. It was an amazing rise from underdog to champion for the quarterback.
