Does Auburn play today? Closer look at Tigers' 2024 season schedule

The Auburn Tigers suffered their fourth loss of the 2024 college football season in Week 6. They fell to 2-4 after losing 31-13 to the No. 5-ranked Georgia Bulldogs.

It marked their third consecutive loss to open SEC play, with two of those losses coming against a ranked opponent. Take a look at whether or not Auburn plays in Week 7:

Do the Auburn Tigers play today?

The Auburn Tigers won't play today, as they will have their first open week of the season in Week 7. It will mark a much needed break for a team that has struggled tremendously in conference play, going 0-3 in SEC matchups.

They return to the field against the No. 21-ranked Missouri Tigers. That matchup will be the first of three remaining games against a team that's ranked in the AP Top 25 Poll.

Can the Auburn Tigers make it to the College Football Playoff this season?

The Auburn Tigers have virtually no shot of reaching the College Football Playoff this season.

Their odds of reaching the postseason are no longer on the board after a disastrous first half of the 2024 college football season. While the Tigers received some AP Top 25 Poll consideration in the preseason rankings, after Week 1, they have stuggled mightily.

Auburn has suffered four losses and has a very difficult schedule the rest of the way. It faces three ranked opponents and two programs who received votes in the latest AP Top 25 Poll. The Tigers' only remaining non-conference game will mark their only matchup against a team who didn't receive recognition from voters.

While the postseason field has expanded to 12 teams - the five highest-ranked conference champions receiving automatic bids to the postseason and the next seven highest-ranked teams getting at-large bids - Auburn's focus should lay elsewhere.

The Tigers need to finish 4-2, which seems unlikely with their difficult remaining slate of games, to be bowl eligible.
