Emmanuel Henderson Transfer Portal: Exploring Top 5 Landing Spots for Alabama WR ft. Michigan
After three years in Alabama, Emmanuel Henderson Jr. is entering the transfer portal. He will be the fourth Crimson Tide wide receiver to seek a transfer, after Kobe Prentice, Caleb Odom and Kendrick Law did the same.
After playing running back in high school, Henderson transitioned to wide receiver at Alabama but was able to make little impact. He finished the 2024 season with four receptions for 82 yards. He also had some opportunities as a returner, with five kickoff returns for 107 yards.
The Hartford, Alabama native will have one year of eligibility remaining. Finding a place to play right away should be a priority. Here are five programs that could land Emmanuel Henderson Jr.
5 Landing Spots for Alabama WR Emmanuel Henderson
#5. Iowa Hawkeyes
The Hawkeyes always seem to need wide receivers. Jacob Gill will be back as the team's leading receiver, but he only caught 32 passes for 382 yards and two touchdowns. Iowa was 132nd in passing yards in the nation, so it can get better contributions.
Henderson's experience returning kicks could also translate into a larger role in Des Moines.
Iowa is restructuring an offense that improved in 2024 after a dismal 2023 campaign. However, it's still far from being a high-powered attack. Emmanuel Henderson's versatility could immediately give them a big-play threat.
#4. Mississippi State Bulldogs
There are a lot of holes for the Bulldogs, and wide receiver is one of the positions needing attention. Leading receivers Kevin Coleman Jr. and Mario Carver have already committed to Missouri and Texas A&M in the transfer portal.
Mississippi State landed Brennen Thompson and Jarron Glover. However, more bodies are needed. Emmanuel Henderson could see instant playing time while helping the Bulldogs find time to develop younger receivers.
#3. South Carolina Gamecocks
The Gamecocks must be feeling good after finishing the season on a hot streak. However, they need to add more weapons on the outside for LaNorris Sellers. Four South Carolina wide receivers entered the transfer portal.
South Carolina has some good young players, but no receiver caught 30 passes in the season. Mazeo Bennett and Nick Harbor could use a veteran presence to develop.
After finishing the season as the No. 87 passing attack, adding a deep threat could help Sellers stretch the field Emmanuel Henderson could be a fit.
#2. Arkansas Razorbacks
The Arkansas wide receiver room will be much different in 2025. Leading receiver Andrew Armstrong is a senior, and four wide receivers are entering the transfer portal. The Razorbacks need depth and experience.
Emmanuel Henderson has both. He could also be a player to follow for some of the younger wideouts.
Some reports suggest the Hogs are looking at another Alabama wideout, Kendrick Law. Landing both receivers could also be an option as the team is devoid of players at the position.
#1. Michigan Wolverines
After a disappointing 2024, the Wolverines made a splash already by recruiting Bryce Underwood. Bringing in an experienced wide receiver could help the quarterback in his first year in Ann Arbor.
Tyler Morris returns as the leading receiver but he finished under 300 receiving yards.
Michigan already had one receiver commit in the portal in former Indiana Hoosier Donovan McCulley. But Henderson would be a welcome addition due to his versatility and experience. The Wolverines finished 2024 ranked 130th in passing offense, so having Henderson should help improve those numbers next year.
