Eric Singleton Jr. transfer portal: Top 5 landing spots for Georgia Tech WR ft. Ole Miss

The transfer portal affords a chance for some underrated stars to find a brighter spot to play. That's the situation with Georgia Tech wide receiver Eric Singleton Jr. Having starred for two seasons for Tech, Singleton has placed his name in the portal and is all but guaranteed to be recruited by a virtual who's who of college football programs.

Tech nabbed Singleton from Western Kentucky late in the recruiting season before his freshman year. In two seasons at Tech, Singleton has snagged 104 receptions for 1,468 yards and nine touchdowns. But at 7-5 Georgia Tech, there were only so many opportunities to shine.

Singleton, who is a Georgia native, has drawn substantial interest from several significant SEC programs. His NIL value has probably jumped substantially on the transfer portal market. Here are five schools that might end up nabbing Singleton.

5. Florida

Now that the Gators have reached a bowl and saved (at least temporarily) Billy Napier's job, Florida needs weapons. QB DJ Lagway should be a star and Florida could certainly utilize a reliable veteran target in the pass game. Florida's NIL commitment could see a major test in Singleton. He's the kind of playmaking receiver Florida has utilized well in the past.

4. Florida State

Meanwhile, desperation could move the Seminoles into the Singleton derby. Off a 2-10 season, Florida State could use help literally anywhere that the program can find it. Singleton's big-play skills would have fit in well at the Florida State of the 1990s.

In the 2020s, the Seminoles are going to have to think outside the box to reinvigorate their struggling program. Diving into the portal to grab veteran playmakers like Singleton is a significant part of that process. It wouldn't be surprising if FSU decided to make a run at Singleton.

3. Auburn

Singleton is scheduling a visit to Auburn, per recent media reports. The Tigers certainly have a need. Top target KeAndre Lambert-Smith is a senior and freshman star Cam Coleman has already entered the transfer portal himself.

Hugh Freeze's offense will require playmakers and Auburn seems determined to dig in. The Tigers are working on quarterbacks and on wide receivers and Singleton would be a significant and immediate boost to the Auburn program.

2. Georgia

For a player from Georgia, what could be better than helping the Bulldogs get back to the top of the SEC and the CFP. Georgia's top two pass catchers this season are both seniors, and the Bulldogs need to fix an increasingly stagnant offense.

A season ago, Georgia scored 40.1 points per game, but this year, the Bulldogs slid to 33.2 ppg. The struggles to create explosive passes have made life difficult for the Bulldogs. Kirby Smart is unlikely to merely sleep on the problem, which is probably why Georgia has already arranged a visit with Singleton. He could well be a Bulldog.

1.Ole Miss

In terms of teams that are aggressive on offense and aggressive in the portal, Ole Miss certainly meets both descriptions. Lane Kiffin's squad are also planning to host Singleton. Four of Ole Miss's top five receivers are seniors.

But the Rebels don't rebuild, they simply reload. Kiffin can sell Singleton on potentially being the next Tre Harris. Don't be surprised if the Rebels wind up being the ultimate landing spot for Eric Singleton.
