"Fire Sam Pittman": Arkansas fans rip Razorbacks HC to shreds after defeat at the hands of Steve Sarkisian & Co.
The Arkansas Razorbacks, who are 5-5 (3-4 Southeastern Conference), have struggled throughout the season. On Saturday, the program lost at home to the No. 3 Texas Longhorns 20–10. It has now dropped three of its last four games.
Coach Sam Pittman, who is 28-30 (14-26), has been on the hot seat for his inability to get going in his five-year tenure with Arkansas. Fans took to X, formerly Twitter, to voice their displeasure with Pittman.
"Sam Pittman is just not good. We as fans shouldn't be getting gut punched and beat in your stadium. But he ain't going anywhere so f**k the fans. This was a very winnable game and Pittman couldn't get it done. Don't blame NIL. If you get an actual coach NIL will come," one fan tweeted.
"I love Sam Pittman and BP but it's time to pull the trigger you're set to be the ony major job open in CFB. If it's not here it's never," another person tweeted.
"Sam Pittman coaching like Tim Walz," another tweeted.
Arkansas has been struggling to become relevant in a stacked SEC. It will be interesting to see if they decide to fire Pittman or if they will go for Year 6 of his tenure.
When does Sam Pittman's contract expire?
Sam Pittman signed an extension following the 2021 season, and the deal was through the 2026 college football season. However, an additional year was to be added to the contract if the Arkansas Razorbacks won seven games in a season during the length of the deal, which they did in the 2022 season.
That means Pittman is under contract through the 2027 season. So, to fire him, Arkansas will have to pay him three years' salary. Pittman is getting a base salary of $5 million annually.
