Georgia and Kentucky go head to head in Week 3 of college football, a week that also marks the full start of conference matchups in the 2024 season. Saturday's game will begin at 7:30 p.m. ET and will be broadcast on ABC.
The Bulldogs are coming from an easy victory in Week 2, as they defeated Tennessee Tech 48-3. They are 2-0 and ranked No. 1 in the nation. On the other hand, Kentucky (1-1) was defeated in Week 2. The Wildcats did have an SEC matchup last week, losing heavily to South Carolina 31-6.
The 48-3 victory of the Bulldogs over Tennessee Tech saw quarterback Carson Beck go on a roll, throwing for 242 yards with five touchdowns. For his part, running back Trevor Etienne ran for 78 yards.
Meanwhile, the Wildcats had a bad weekend, with quarterback Brock Vandagriff only throwing for 30 yards. Running back Demie Sumo-Karngbaye carried the bulk of the offensive effort, with 70 rushing yards. Overall, the Wildcats won in the running game, with 139 yards. However, that was not enough to offset the Gamecocks' 252 yards of total offense.

As conference rivals, the Bulldogs and the Wildcats have often faced each other. Over the years, there have been 77 encounters between these SEC schools, going back to 1939. Georgia holds a firm grasp on the affairs here, with a record of 63-12-2.
The first encounter between the schools occurred on Oct. 21, 1939. The game was played in Lexington, Kentucky, with the Wildcats winning the encounter 13-6. In the past decade and a half, the game has been entirely a Georgia party, with the Bulldogs currently being on a 14-game winning streak.
The last time the Wildcats defeated the Bulldogs was on Nov. 21, 2009, when they defeated them 34-27 in Athens, Georgia.
Who's the favorite to win the Georgia vs. Kentucky 2024 game?
There are few expectations for anything other than a Georgia victory. If Kentucky can win, it would be one of the biggest upsets of the year. According to BetMGM, the Bulldogs are 23.5-point favorites to win the game. Understandably so, considering they're also the favorite to run away with the national title in January.
