Houston vs. TCU prediction & betting tips - October 4 | College Football Week 6
The Houston Cougars and the TCU Horned Frogs are prepared to lock horns inside Amon G. Carter Stadium on Friday night in Big 12 Conference action. These teams are on somewhat different paths in the beginning portion of the season.
The Cougars (1-4, 0-2 Big 12) are looking to snap a two-game losing streak after Saturday's 20-0 home loss to the Iowa State Cyclones. Senior quarterback Donovan Smith was not able to do too much in the game as he finished throwing 8-of-12 for 71 yards with an interception while also running seven times for 47 yards (6.7 yards per attempt).
The Horned Frogs (3-2, 1-1) are looking to establish a bit of a winning streak as they are coming off a 38-27 road victory over the Kansas Jayhawks on Saturday. Sophomore quarterback Josh Hoover was able to do well in the game under center as he went 28-of-37 for 356 yards with three passing touchdowns against a pair of interceptions.
Houston vs. TCU prediction
It is difficult to cover a large number, but when Houston has failed to record a single point in their last eight quarters of football, it may not take more than 20 points for favorite TCU to cover the 17-point spread, per DraftKings. Josh Hoover is one of the top quarterbacks in the nation, so he should dismantle the Cougars' secondary.
It may be a bit of a longshot bet, but Horned Frogs wide receiver Jack Bech could find himself in the end zone multiple times in this game. He has done so in each of his last two games and that will be a good sign for the offense.
Bech is averaging nine receptions in the last three games. Hoover is going to target him as well, so if anyone is capable of getting a couple of scores, go with the guy with six receiving touchdowns this season.
Stacy Sneed is the Cougars' leading running back this season and asking for 50 yards on the ground does not seem like a tall ask. He is averaging 60.3 rushing yards in his previous three games and the Horned Frogs are 100th in college football as they are allowing 173.4 rushing yards per game thus far. All these numbers suggest a big game running for Sneed in this matchup.
Houston vs. TCU betting tips

Houston vs. TCU head-to-head
These two teams are entering their 27th game against one another and the series is tied at 13 wins apiece. TCU has been on fire in this matchup, though, as the Horned Frogs have won each of the previous nine games, dating back to 1993. Their last meeting was last season in Houston as the Horned Frogs secured a 36-13 road win.
