Who is playing in the Hawaii Bowl?

The South Florida Bulls (6-6) and the San Jose State Spartans (7-5) will clash at the Hawaii Bowl. Both teams are known for their offensive firepower. However, each team's season didn’t go exactly as expected before the start of the year.

South Florida came in with lofty expectations in the American Athletic Conference. Yet the Bulls crashed straight out of the gate. They opened the season with a 2-4 record. While they lost to heavyweights Alabama and Miami, they also dropped their first two conference games at Tulane and against Memphis at home.

Bryce Archie will be a name to follow in the Hawaii Bowl. The quarterback took over for the final seven games of the season and gathered a 4-3 record. He finished the year with 1,679 passing yards and nine touchdowns, but he was also picked nine times.

San Jose State overachieved, on the other hand. The Spartans arrived with moderate expectations but had a strong season. They beat Power 4 Stanford and were competitive against UNLV and for three quarters versus Boise State.

Junior quarterback Walker Eget took over in the fifth game of the season and passed for 2,224 yards, 11 touchdowns, and nine interceptions. He will be missing an important piece in the passing game.

Leading receiver Nick Nash opted out of the bowl game. Nash is expected to enter the NFL Draft. Nash finished the regular season with 104 receptions, 1,382 yards and 16 touchdowns.
