"I'm human": Shedeur Sanders justifies his post game trash talk with Colorado state QB after dominant win

Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders addressed the viral incident in which he declined to shake hands with Colorado State quarterback Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi and exchanged a few words after Saturday's showdown in Fort Collins.

In an episode of his podcast "2Legendary with Shedeur Sanders," he clarified that the decision was a direct response to Fowler-Nicolosi's pre-game social media comments.

Sanders explained that Fowler-Nicolosi had made derogatory remarks about the his team, and he felt it necessary to address the disrespect.

“After the game, I said something to the Colorado State quarterback because he was talking crazy on social media and he was really doing it for the clicks. And it's just like, come on, bro. We wasn't even on that.”
“And yeah, I said something because I'm just, you know, I'm a human. So it's like, you're not going to keep talking crazy about us and talk crazy like you like that.”

The quarterback emphasized that his actions were not intended to escalate the situation but to send a clear message that such behavior would not be tolerated.

“Like you didn't even have to go there. But since you took it there, then is that it felt like a lot of hate to me personally. But of course, the media, you know, try to portray it like I did something wrong, but that's just how it is. So it's just like, we understood what's going on. So it's like, we don't even get affected by it anymore.”

Reason behind Shedeur Sanders' comments

The matchup between the Colorado Buffaloes and the Colorado State Rams ended with the Buffaloes' victory. Contrary to expectations, Shedeur Sanders and Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi did not meet to shake hands after the game.

Instead, as Fowler-Nicolosi extended his hand, Shedeur Sanders did not revert. The incident stemmed from a pre-game comment made by Fowler-Nicolosi on social media.

The Colorado State quarterback suggested that the Buffaloes were more focused on social media attention than on actual football. Sanders took offense to this remark, and his response was far from diplomatic.

Sanders reportedly told Fowler-Nicolosi:

"You were talking that s--t on Instagram."

The blunt statement further escalated the tension between the two teams and their fans.

The Colorado Buffaloes secured a convincing 28-10 victory over Colorado State, bouncing back from a previous loss against Nebraska in week 2. This win boosts their confidence as they enter the Big 12 conference. Their next challenge will be against Baylor in Week 4.
