"I need a little more patience" - Deion Sanders reflects on one quality he lacks after the 2023 CFB season

Deion Sanders' Colorado Buffaloes had a victorious start to the 2023 college football season. They won three games back-to-back, against TCU, Nebraska and Colorado State.

However, their winning streak was stalled by a disappointing 42-6 loss against Dan Lanning's Oregon, which was the seventh-highest watched match in the whole season.

Throughout the season, Deion Sanders made the headlines for various back-and-forths with the media as well as with some coaches.

After the matchup against TCU, Sanders was seen losing his cool with a reporter as he repeatedly asked him, "Do you believe?"

Another notable situation was Sanders' heated exchange with Colorado State head coach Jay Norvell, when he made comments about Coach Prime's mother.

In a conversation with Joel Klatt, Sanders reflected on these moments and spoke about what he's learned from the season:

"Learn a little more patience, I need a little more patience. because I know what's supposed to be happening. And I'm hearing what's supposed to be in and if it's not happening, and my best statement I make to my staff is, if you're allowing it to happen, it's on you and it's just consequently on me.
"It's bothersome because I'm a really detailed guy. Yeah, I'm detailed to every darn thing. I dot Is, cross Ts like, that's the way I go about my life. But I've learned a long time ago, you can't expect what you get. You can't expect someone to be you because God only made one." (8:00)

Deion Sanders defends son Shedeur Sanders on X

After the 2024 spring games, Colorado found themselves in a tight spot as many players started entering the transfer portal.

On April 29, a former Colorado safety, Xavier Smith, gave a blunt statement to a reporter of The Athletic about Coach Prime not giving him enough opportunities. He also said that Sanders advised him to enter the transfer portal.

Responding to this allegation, Shedeur Sanders dropped a straight-forward reaction to Xavier's comments:

Sanders also lost his cool and defended his son Shedeur Sanders during an infamous exchange on X:

Fans will be intrigued to see if Coach Prime is able to beat his 4-8 record in the upcoming 2024 college football season. If he does, it would be a step up. However, even Deion Sanders can't afford another weak performance.
